Logic IB Problems Solutions

Here are the solutions to the Logic IB Problems.  Please use them wisely!  Copying down answers instead of working through the problems will not help you to successfully prepare for the test.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email at msbmathematics@gmail.com -- we can also schedule a time use the Google Chat feature if you feel you need extra help outside of regular school hours.  Remember: there are many resources available to ensure that you are successful on this test!

And guess what?!  Due to the snow we've decided to move the test to Monday, April 25th.  (Okay, maybe it's not because of the snow -- we just want you to have adequate time to master this material!)

Before watching all of the Probability Worksheet Videos...

Why not take a look at the answers?

If you don't understand the solution, then check out the videos.  They will give you greater clarity and help to prepare you for your test!

Probability and Logic Worksheets

Many of you have turned in the probability and logic worksheets -- awesome!

I thought it would be helpful for you to have the questions available for reference while going through the answers.  Videos will be up soon that work through each problem on the Logic worksheet. I know that y'all are excited about those videos and will use them appropriately to study for the test on Thursday!

Helpful Videos/Web sites on Probability and Financial Mathematics

I have provided you with professional videos on derivatives, relatively professional, okay, amateur videos on the probability worksheet you were given (ask me about the outtakes!), and now I believe it is time to take a look at some helpful Web sites and videos that can help to prepare you for you test on Thursday.

Probability

Remember how much you liked listening to the Australian guy instead of me?! Well, here he is:
Tree Diagrams

Remember to look at the provided exercises when you take a look at the Khan Academy videos!
Khan Academy Probability

Conditional Probability

Logic

The Web site below is certainly not professional.  It was created by some IB Math Studies students oh-so-long-ago, back when free Web sites were made on AngelFire and not Google Sites.
Financial Mathematics

Helpful Videos on Derivatives

Here are some additional helpful videos on derivatives:

Khan Academcy Video Still - Calculus: Derivatives 1
After watching these videos you can get extra practice by clicking on Exercises  under the video:
This is a great resource to help you master derivatives!

Remember, Brightstorm also has exercises to help you understand the concepts better.

Brightstorm.com Video Still
The great folks at Brightstorm go through these examples with you, so that you can follow along (pausing to ponder the question at hand if you so wish) and build a better understanding of the topic presented.  It would be a good idea to not only look at this video, but also check out the videos listed on the right hand side:

Resources for Your Upcoming Test

The upcoming test on Thursday, April 21st will cover the following topics:

  • Financial Mathematics
  • Derivatives
  • Probability
  • Logic
The respective chapters are: 15, 21, 16, and 17.

Notes for each of these topics can be found on Mr. McMayer's Web site.  It is a good idea to review the notes and examples from each chapter -- by doing this you can see where your strengths and weaknesses are with respect to these concepts.

As always, additional (phenomenal) resources can be found on Khan Academy or brightstorm.com.

I am currently uploading the videos that I made to help you review the probability worksheet given out earlier this week.  You can find those videos on my YouTube channel: MsBMathematics. Or under "Helpful Math Videos" to the right.  There are some technical problems for the first 30 seconds or so of each video after uploading.  I am looking into this issue and will do my best to fix this as soon as possible!

Also, don't forget that I put together a great resource on derivatives for you at HippoCampus.  This resource will help you to recall everything you learned about derivatives a couple weeks ago!

Math Resource Page

Hello, Math Studies students!

Welcome to Ms. B's Mathematics Resource Page.  I decided to put this together for you as a quick reference to find the links and videos that I have mentioned or posted during class.  If you have any questions outside the classroom you can reach me by email: msbmathematics@gmail.com, or stop in before or after class.

Enjoy expanding your knowledge and preparing for the upcoming exam on Thursday, April 21st!
